Duties: Manufacturing Integration Ø Act as the technical interface between Product Engineering and SMT Manufacturing. o Continually discuss with Industrialization, MA and project teams on active projects and their needs o Understand limitations of various suppliers equipment’s/ systems/ platforms Ø Review new product designs for SMT manufacturability (DFM/DFA). Ø Translate product requirements into SMT process requirements (stencil design, placement strategy, reflow profile, etc.). Ø Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from prototype through mass production Process & Equipment Alignment Ø Define and validate SMT process flows for new assemblies. Ø Ensure component packages, PCB layouts, and BOM selections are compatible with existing SMT equipment capabilities Ø Coordinate programming of SMT machines (pick & place, SPI, AOI, reflow ovens). Ø Lead line readiness reviews before production release Technical Problem Solving Ø Analyze and resolve SMT-related production issues (placement defects, soldering issues, yield loss). Ø Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA) Ø Work with Quality and PE to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects. Documentation & Standards Ø Create and maintain SMT process documentation (Process development report, Process specifications, validation prescription) Contribute to manufacturing standards for design rules and SMT best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration Ø Participate in design reviews and change management. Ø Coordinate with Supply Chain regarding component packaging and reel/tray requirements. Ø Train production and technical staff on product-specific SMT requirements when needed Continuous Improvement Ø Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, changeover time, and line efficiency. Ø Support implementation of new SMT technologies, materials, and equipment. Ø Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives related to SMT processes. |
